and may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart's FlexSmart policy
and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a
blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid
work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can
be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by
leadership and based on business needs.About the JobPosition
Overview:As the Director of CSR & Sustainability at PetSmart, you
will report directly to the VP of Corporate Communications &
Corporate Social Responsibility. Working collaboratively with key
internal stakeholders, including Merchandising, Veterinary
Services, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Human
Resources, and Legal, you will direct, advise on, develop, execute,
and oversee initiatives, processes, guidelines, and data management
that support our key ESG priorities.Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day activities related to PetSmart's ESG
strategy, aligning with goals and recognized frameworks such as GRI
and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- ESG Reporting & Transparency:
- Oversee key ESG activities, including the production of annual
ESG reports, materiality assessments, and gap analyses.
- Produce ESG reporting for company sponsors and owner
partners.
- Identify opportunities for increased transparency in ESG
reporting, aligning with additional frameworks and staying ahead of
the regulatory environment.
- ESG Goal Tracking:
- Lead the tracking of PetSmart's ESG goals across animal
welfare, human capital, DEI, and environmental sustainability, with
a specific focus on energy and waste reduction.
- ESG Internal Governance:
- Oversee the development of ESG and sustainability materials for
internal governance groups such as the ESG Steering Committee and
the Diversity Executive Council.
- Civic Engagement:
- Support PetSmart's civic engagement strategy, including
identifying and activating local community events, partnerships,
and associate voter engagement.
- Associate Engagement:
- Direct efforts to engage associates in DEI initiatives,
supporting Associate Resource Groups and community events.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Support strategic stakeholder engagement with NGOs, trade
organizations, and other important partners.
- Industry Representation:
- Serve as a representative and/or liaison to industry
sustainability groups, such as the Pet Sustainability Coalition and
Sustainable Brands, contributing to solutions that align with
PetSmart's goals and benefit the industry.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA, Master's degree
and/or JD preferred.
- 5-7 years proven experience in managing ESG programs, with a
focus on DEI and environmental sustainability.
- Proven effective project management skills with the ability to
oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Familiarity with non-financial reporting standards and
frameworks.
- Passion for and commitment to PetSmart's mission and
values.
- The ideal candidate should possess experience in managing and
developing teams, demonstrate effective interpersonal and
communication skills, and exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). They must be highly organized,
detail-oriented, and goal-driven, with exceptional written and
verbal communication skills. The candidate should thrive in a
fast-paced environment, manage multiple assignments simultaneously,
and adapt to shifting priorities, all while maintaining a
professional mannerism. Additionally, the ability to work both
independently and collaboratively as a team player, along with
flexibility to travel as needed, is crucial for success in this
role.
